This role is designed as a developmental opportunity, beginning in a part-time capacity and expanding into a full-time position over time. It is intended as a structured pathway for a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) seeking to transition into the role of Clinical Director.

Clinical Director (LPC)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: W-2 Employee (Part-Time → Full-Time Growth Track)
Reports To: Owner / Administrator
Position Overview
The Clinical Director (CD) is responsible for the clinical oversight, supervision, and quality assurance of all behavioral health services delivered within the facility. This role ensures compliance with Arizona regulatory standards and supports clinician development while maintaining high-quality client care.
To maintain clinical competency, workflow familiarity, and team credibility, the Clinical Director will also provide limited direct client services on a weekly basis. This position is designed as a phased role, beginning part-time and expanding to full-time as the facility grows.
Phase Structure
Phase 1: Early Growth (0–3 LACs)
• Hours: 10–15 hours/week
• Primarily remote with occasional onsite presence
• Focus: supervision structure, documentation review, clinical workflow setup
Phase 2: Growth (4–6 LACs)
• Hours: 15–25 hours/week
• Hybrid onsite/remote
• Focus: supervision expansion, chart audits, program oversight
Phase 3: Established Facility (7+ LACs, groups active)
• Hours: 30–40 hours/week (Full-Time Track)
• Strong onsite leadership presence
• Focus: full clinical leadership, compliance oversight, program development
Core Responsibilities
Clinical Supervision
• Provide supervision to LACs in accordance with Arizona requirements
• Conduct individual and group supervision sessions
• Review and approve treatment plans and clinical documentation
• Ensure adherence to scope of practice
Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance
• Conduct routine chart audits
• Ensure documentation meets medical necessity and payer standards
• Monitor quality of care and client outcomes
• Identify and correct compliance risks
Program Development
• Oversee therapy groups and service delivery models
• Assist in development of clinical programming
• Ensure consistency in treatment approaches
Staff Development
• Train and mentor LACs
• Provide clinical feedback and corrective guidance
• Support clinician development and retention
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with all applicable Arizona regulations and standards set by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
• Maintain supervision documentation
• Identify and escalate clinical or ethical concerns
• Support audit readinessDirect Client Care Requirement
• Provide direct client services 1–5 sessions per week
• Maintain clinical engagement to ensure:
- Skills remain sharp
- Familiarity with workflow and documentation systems
- Credibility and rapport with LAC staff
Client care is secondary to supervisory and leadership responsibilities.
Boundaries of Role
• Clinical Director oversees clinical operations only
• Does not manage budgeting, HR, or business operations
• No final authority over hiring or firing decisions (advisory role only)
Minimum Qualifications
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) – Arizona, active and unrestricted
• Approved Clinical Supervisor or eligible under Arizona standards
• Experience supervising LACs
• Strong knowledge of behavioral health documentation and compliance
• CPR certified
• Current fingerprint card
Required Professional Standards
• Must carry active professional liability (malpractice) insurance (1,000,000/3,000,000)
o Coverage must be maintained throughout employment
o Proof of insurance required prior to start date and upon renewal
Preferred Qualifications
• Behavioral health facility experience
• Experience with group therapy or structured programs (IOP/PHP)
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including BHTs
Compensation Structure
• Hourly Rate: $55/hour (Rate increases planned as the facility grows)
